True Discipleship : Life on Mission

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to live with purpose beyond ourselves. The Christian life is more than just attending church on Sunday; it is about carrying the love, character, and mission of Christ into every area of our daily lives. Whether at home, in the workplace or within our community, God has placed us where we are for a reason.

Jesus Himself modelled a life of humble service. Though He is the King of kings, He willingly served others and met the needs of those around Him. His example challenges us to move beyond asking, “What can I receive?” and instead ask, “What can I give?” A heart surrendered to Christ looks for opportunities to serve, encourage, and bless others.

Jesus said: Mark 10:45 NKJV … “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Living on mission also means embracing everyday discipleship. Our faith should not be confined to a church building or a Sunday service. Rather, it should shape our conversations, decisions, attitudes, and actions throughout the week. The world is watching how believers live, and often our daily conduct speaks louder than our words. Every interaction becomes an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and truth. I once heard someone say, we Christians may be the only Bible a person looks at!

A vital part of God’s mission is making disciples who make more disciples. Jesus never intended His followers to stand idly by; He intended them to duplicate His life in others. Through mentoring, encouragement, prayer, and teaching, we can help others grow in their faith and develop into mature followers of Christ. As they grow, they in turn can help others, creating a continuous growth of believers fulfilling God’s work here on Earth.

Before ascending into heaven, Jesus gave His followers this commission:

Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV … “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

Today, ask the Lord to show you where He wants you to serve, who He wants you to encourage, and how He wants you to live on mission.

A life surrendered to Christ becomes a powerful instrument in His hands, touching lives and advancing His Kingdom one person at a time.
